Description

The patented Flashlight tool allows the continuous measurement of inclination while drilling with an Electromagnetic communication link to the surface. Static 3-axis inclination and continuous rotary inclination measurements are sent to the surface via Electromagnetic communication. The system operates independently and can be programmed with customizable survey and logging sequences. The short sub is placed directly behind the bit, with the sensors 30cm or 1 ft behind the bit. The sensor package comes with a triaxial accelerometer and triaxial magnetometer. The ABI subs come with a 2-battery field-changeable design that allows up to 8 days of continuous operation.

Applications

  • Tight Radius well profiles.
  • Fractured or faulted formations.
  • Steering in formation with dipping beds.
  • Critical wellbores where deviation is critical.

Features & Benefits

  • Bit to sensor is one feet.
  • Reduced doglegs.
  • Optimised well placement.
  • Adapts to any motor type.
  • Tri-axis accelerometer/magnetometers.
  • Continuous at bit inclination measurement.
  • Vibration at bit measurements.
  • Temperature at bit measurement.
  • Works in oil- and water-based muds.
  • All information is real-time and memory recorded.
  • EM signal to surface.
  • Calibrated and operates up to 175°C.
  • Dual Battery for longer bit runs.
  • Increased the dynamic range of the rotatory inclination sensor. This enables it to read more accurately at lower inclinations and is more resilient to bad readings from shock and vibration.
  • Warning flags to verify tool health and what the rotary algorithm is doing. It acts as a qualifier to tell if the data being sent up hole is good.
